Filing punctuality + completeness at the Japanese EDINET (FSA electronic disclosure system) for {legal_name}. Every Japanese listed/reporting company (KK — Kabushiki Kaisha, GK — Godo Kaisha) files its yūka shōken hōkokusho (annual securities report) on EDINET → returning absent:not_disclosed is essentially impossible for any reporting company actually incorporated in Japan. ISSUER-STATUS DISTINCTION (MANDATORY): the rich continuous-disclosure sub-signals (filing_punctuality / filing_completeness from EDINET) apply ONLY to reporting issuers / listed entities. For a NON-listed private KK/GK, do NOT estimate those content sub-signals — return them null and score ONLY registry_status_active from the Houmukyoku (Legal Affairs Bureau) commercial-register hit you cite (this degrades gracefully to the registry-only signal; do NOT mark the company not_applicable merely for being private). The registry is JAPANESE-language: cite the official hostname edinet-fsa.go.jp and ACCEPT local-language filings (有価証券報告書) — do not bail just because the document is not in English. EXTRACTION RULES — MANDATORY: (1) search edinet-fsa.go.jp (EDINET) using the company's legal name (Japanese OR romanized) OR EDINET code / securities code — the result returns the yūka shōken hōkokusho (annual securities report) + quarterly reports (四半期報告書) with submission dates. (2) cross-check the company's IR page (決算短信 tanshin) and reputable aggregators. (3) for non-listed KK, the Houmukyoku (Legal Affairs Bureau) commercial register confirms registration. Return composite_signal with sub-signals (each 0-100 + source_url): (a) filing_punctuality — how close the last annual securities report submission is to the statutory deadline (yūka shōken hōkokusho submitted entro 3 months of fiscal year-end = 60-100; late = 30-60); (b) filing_completeness — richness of the submitted documents (consolidated + non-consolidated financial statements + business overview + auditor's report = 90+, minimal only = 50); (c) registry_status_active — entity active/listed/registered (active=90, delisted/dissolved=20). Return type="absent" reason="no_company_specific_data" ONLY if the entity is verifiably NOT incorporated in Japan. SUB-SIGNAL OBSERVABILITY (anti-fabrication, MANDATORY): registry EXISTENCE/status is almost always verifiable, but the deposited-accounts CONTENT (filing_punctuality / filing_completeness) is frequently paywalled, fee-gated, or simply not deposited for small/private companies. If you cannot OBSERVE the actual deposit dates or document richness from a CITED source, return that sub-signal as null — do NOT estimate or guess a band from the company's size, sector or country, and do NOT treat a paywalled/undisclosed content sub-signal as "low". registry_status_active must be scored ONLY from a POSITIVE registry hit you cite (the status field visible); if you cannot locate the entity in the national registry at all (ambiguous/non-English legal name, homonym, no hit), do NOT default it to active — return it null. Not-found is NOT active. If NO sub-signal could be observed from any cited source, return type="absent" reason="no_company_specific_data" (a genuine content-absence then resolves to a clean not_applicable, never a fabricated composite).
