Filing punctuality + completeness at the Canadian registries — SEDAR+ (continuous-disclosure filings for reporting issuers) and Corporations Canada (federal incorporation register) — for {legal_name}. Any Canadian Inc/Ltd/Corp/ULC is incorporated federally (Corporations Canada) or provincially and, if a reporting issuer, files on SEDAR+ → returning absent:not_disclosed is essentially impossible for any company actually incorporated in Canada. ISSUER-STATUS DISTINCTION (MANDATORY): the rich continuous-disclosure sub-signals (filing_punctuality / filing_completeness from SEDAR+) apply ONLY to reporting issuers / listed entities. For a NON-reporting private CA corp, do NOT estimate those content sub-signals — return them null and score ONLY registry_status_active from the Corporations Canada / provincial registry hit you cite (this degrades gracefully to the registry-only signal; do NOT mark the company not_applicable merely for being private). EXTRACTION RULES — MANDATORY: (1) search sedarplus.ca (SEDAR+) using the company's legal name — the result returns the issuer profile with filed annual/interim financial statements, MD&A and AIF dates. (2) cross-check ic.gc.ca (Corporations Canada — Federal Corporation Search) using legal name OR corporation number for incorporation date and registry status; provincial registries (e.g. Ontario, BC, Quebec) for provincially incorporated entities. (3) search the company's own "Investor Relations"/"Governance" page for filed accounts. Return composite_signal with sub-signals (each 0-100 + source_url): (a) filing_punctuality — how close the last continuous-disclosure / annual-return filing is to the statutory deadline (annual financial statements filed entro 90 days for venture issuers, MD&A entro deadline = 60-100; late = 30-60); (b) filing_completeness — richness of the filed documents (consolidated + interim + MD&A + AIF + auditor's report = 90+, basic only = 50); (c) registry_status_active — entity active/in good standing at Corporations Canada or the provincial registry (active=90, dissolved/struck=20). Return type="absent" reason="no_company_specific_data" ONLY if the entity is verifiably NOT incorporated in Canada. SUB-SIGNAL OBSERVABILITY (anti-fabrication, MANDATORY): registry EXISTENCE/status is almost always verifiable, but the deposited-accounts CONTENT (filing_punctuality / filing_completeness) is frequently paywalled, fee-gated, or simply not deposited for small/private companies. If you cannot OBSERVE the actual deposit dates or document richness from a CITED source, return that sub-signal as null — do NOT estimate or guess a band from the company's size, sector or country, and do NOT treat a paywalled/undisclosed content sub-signal as "low". registry_status_active must be scored ONLY from a POSITIVE registry hit you cite (the status field visible); if you cannot locate the entity in the national registry at all (ambiguous/non-English legal name, homonym, no hit), do NOT default it to active — return it null. Not-found is NOT active. If NO sub-signal could be observed from any cited source, return type="absent" reason="no_company_specific_data" (a genuine content-absence then resolves to a clean not_applicable, never a fabricated composite).
